Opening a resource center to include many non-profit organizations who need help to acquire desks, tables and office chairs at little or not cost.

Contact all the larger corporations and manufacturing facilities in your area. Ask if they have any surplus furniture that they would be willing to donate. Have your own truck to pick the items up. It saves them storage costs. They can't sell the furniture for much and they will be able to take a tax deduction.
I recently closed a facility in the Chicago area and we couldn't find where to give away our office furniture. Much of it was thrown away.
